¡Iquique!
So the average rainfall here is 0 cm. This is a beach city surrounded by giant sandy mountains of nothing. No plants whatsoever. It took us 36 hours to bus here, up along the beautiful coast during tsunami warnings. There was an earthequake off the coast right near where the big one hit a year ago that caused that deadly tsunami. Luckily nothing happened but its wierd because I was totally thinking about it while we were on the bus but had no idea it was actually a possibility. We are staying at a typical party hostel which is kind of annoying and impersonal, so the search is on for a better one. Last night we went to the cinema! I haven´t been to the movies since last summer and it was really nice. We got popcorn and everything. Saw El Cisne Negro. Today we swimsuit hunted, found nothing, but we went to a street market and I bought some wierd dress with a bollywood scene on it and another kind of ugly shirt with tigers drinking water. I don´t know why but I really like them.

ReplyDeleteI posted the pictures on facebook. By "we" I mean Katrina, Benha and me. They are the two classmates that I am doing tide pool surveys with this month.
